  1. Re: Computing Mean values of a set of vectors ?

Thanks, the information at the link is very useful !!
  2. Computing Mean values of a set of vectors ?

    Hello.

I'm looking for a nice way to compute the mean vector of a set of 3D vectors on GPU.

I can do it on CPU after reading the data back to CPU but readback takes some time...

    My data...

Re: Weird result with unsigned char type

Actually, my data is in unsigned char, a gray image with 8 bits per pixel. So my initial kernel function receives unsigned char array as arguments. When I changed the data type to float* in the...
  4. What is the advantage of using image object ?

    Hello.

I wonder why we need image object for image processing. It looks like the image object is not much different from the memory object.. and we can do the same job with memory objects without...

Re: creating objects in shared memory

    Hi.

This tutorial may help you understand how to use shared memories.

Re: Compile error for float4 array

Well, on my system (Mac OS X 10.6.6, ATI HD 5750)

the following code compiles well in a kernel function.

    const float4 kernel_x[3] = {
    (float4)(-1,0,1,0),
    (float4)(-2,0,2,0), ...

Weird result with unsigned char type

    Hello.

I wrote a very simple kernel that just copies the data from a source to a destination (e.g. image copy).

    __kernel void copy_img(
    __global unsigned char *src,
    __global unsigned...
  8. Re: What happens if one of kernel argument is const int ?

By the way, I tested the example above on a iMac with ATI Radeon HD 5750 and OS X 10.6.5.
  9. Re: What happens if one of kernel argument is const int ?

    Thanks !
You helped me understand OpenCL better.
  10. Re: What happens if one of kernel argument is const int ?

Well, my kernel is as it is and it work without problems until now.

I couldn't exactly understand what the spec says...

should I use pointer to pass a constant to a kernel ?
  11. What happens if one of kernel argument is const int ?

Hello. I have a question about kernel arguments.

Assuming my kernel is defined as something like this:

    __kernel void
    my_kernel_func(__global const int w)

    I pass the argument:
  12. Image object support on MAC OS with ATI Radeon HD 5750 ?

    Hello.

Until yesterday, I've been working on my MacBook pro with NVIDIA GPU.

Today I moved my kernels, which use image objects without problems on macbook pro, to an iMac where Radeon HD 5750...
  13. Does the number of arguments affect to the performance ?

    Hello.

Sometimes my kernel uses 7~10 arguments and it might be too many for a kernel.
So I wonder whether the number of arguments affect to the performance of my kernel.
    For example, I can...

  15. Questions about the memory created by clCreateBuffer

    Hello, OpenCL developers.

    1. My first question is about the location of memory. I'm a little confused with how the location of the memory created with clCreateBuffer function is determined.

  16. Size of a structure. Should it be multiple of 16 ?

    Hello.
I wonder that my own structure shoulde have the size of multiple of 16 bytes.
I remember that I read a post saying it would be better to make the size of a structure be multiple of 16....

Re: How can I get this error?

Judging from my little experience, such error message can occur when the kernel source code has bugs. So you have to check your kernel source code carefully.

Commenting some part out, a basic...
  18. Re: Weird compile error with structures defined in *.cl

I did some tests with cl_float4 and cl_float2.
Both types work filne in the host side.

It seems that the built-in functions are not supported in the host side.
    Calling 'dot()' gives me compile...
  19. Re: Weird compile error with structures defined in *.cl

    Thanks dominik. I'll try that.

I have another question related to built-in types.
Are the built-in math functions, such as dot(), cross() available on the host side ??
  20. Re: Weird compile error with structures defined in *.cl

    Hello dominik.

Well, it is because the built-in vector types are only available in the device side, not in the host side.
Is there a way to use them in the host side ?
It will help me a lot. ...
  21. Weird compile error with structures defined in *.cl

    Hello.

I am facing a weird compile error, which I think it is caused by structure definition in my kernel.cl file.

I have 4 structures in my kernel file as shown below.

  22. Re: Memory error occurs after releasing a memory object

I release m1 because the size of data written to m1 changes in each iteration.

If creating / releasing the memory buffer object is costly, maybe I have to change my code...
  23. Re: Memory error occurs after releasing a memory object

Yes, I have two kernel functions in a file 'my_kernel.cl' and both of them are built without errors.
Each of them has different kernel id, and they share the same command queue.

  24. Memory error occurs after releasing a memory object

    Hello.

I have two kernel functions (A and B).
The kernel B uses the output from the kernel A, so they are executed in order.
Both kernels are repeated in a for loop.

    the pseudo code looks...
