Introduction

The Media Processing Division (MPD) within ARM has the mission to be at the forefront of advanced multimedia IP products. The Mali range of graphics processors and video engines deliver an advanced architecture for hardware acceleration of graphics and video, tuned for low energy consumption and high performance.

Due to our considerable success to date combined with continuing strong customer interest we need to accelerate the development of our Mali product family. To enable this and also to further strengthen the division’s engineering team, we are looking for a specialised Graphics Hardware Design Engineer to be a key member of our hardware development team in Cambridge, UK.

Hardware design engineers within MPD have responsibilities that cover all areas of the design and verification process, from initial concept through to customer deployment. This is a demanding hands-on role, employing the latest design and verification techniques to develop best-in-class configurable graphics processor hardware IP that is optimized for low power and high performance.

Job Purpose

We seek a highly motivated graphics hardware design engineer to join this world class team, based in Cambridge. The successful candidate will demonstrate specialist skills in low power micro architecture definition and RTL implementation, including hands-on experience using state of the art tools and techniques for at least one complex IP development project.

The role involves working closely with graphics architects and other hardware design and verification engineers to ensure that IP is modelled, robustly designed and can be thoroughly verified.

Job Requirements

Education & Qualifications

Good university degree, ideally in electronic engineering or computer science, although other science graduates will be considered if they have relevant experience.

Essential Skills & Experience


Graphics hardware IP design experience

Proven ability to design, specify, implement and verify complex IP designs

Experience of VHDL/ Verilog and modelling at an architecture/ micro-architecture level

Use of UNIX, shell and make programming

Enthusiasm, drive and the ability to schedule own workload and plan tasks

Ability to express ideas and communicate effectively in English

A high level of pro-activity, initiative and problem solving

Willingness to be learn, be flexible and accept new challenges

 


Desirable Skills & Experience

 

Design techniques for low power

Knowledge of 2D and 3D graphics fundamentals and software APIs

High-level programming language experience

OpenGL-ES/ OpenVG development experience
